At Ride Me Five we wanted to join the sustainable products initiative
What would you say if you knew that the traditional textile industry, the one that dresses us all up every day, is one of the most dangerous for this planet? not only for the environmental damage it produces but also for the overexploitation that threatens to wipe out our resources. At RM5 we believe that things can be done a little better each time and, although it doesn’t seem like an easy path, it’s the one we’ve chosen.
What we want is to correct the mistakes and minimize the negative impact that’s created by producing the clothes we all use. Sustainable clothing makes a big difference because it pollutes much less, avoids the excessive use of water, and is much more respectful towards people, animals, and our planet in general.
Because of this, Ride Me Five wants to take responsibility and make its production chain fair, respectful, organic, and sustainable.
Our mission is to create high-quality clothing in the most responsible and ethical way possible. In fact, and we will talk to you about this later, the clothes we sell have the most important certificates in terms of sustainability.
Our commitment could end there, but we want to go one step further. And it’s that, in addition to being the planet’s lungs, forests are home to 75% of the world’s biodiversity. What would you say if you knew that between 75 million and 100 million trees are cut down each year for textile production?
At Ride Me Five we can see that and, therefore, we are committed to planting 5 trees for every shirt you buy.
With this initiative, we help to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere, we recover the habitats that animals are losing due to deforestation and we reduce soil erosion. These types of initiatives also have a positive impact on local economies, creating jobs for planting and conservation tasks.
How? Being responsible in all phases of the chain
RM5 relies on easy-to-recycle eco designs, avoiding zippers and buttons that make disassembly difficult and are slow to degrade. Our labels are made of 100% recycled material made in Spain. The same with the bags in which we send your order, they are fully recyclable and made out of 70% recycled material. In addition, we avoid products of animal origin and we don’t perform tests on animals.
Our work goes further. Every time we run a washing machine, around 700,000 microplastic fibers end up in the ocean. In order to avoid this, the t-shirts we sell are made exclusively out of organic cotton. In addition, this cotton comes from seeds that were not genetically modified and are grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
Did you know that 25% of the pesticides, fertilizers, and insecticides used worldwide come from traditional cotton cultivation? In organic cotton cultivation, none of the above is used, which reduces pollution levels in rivers, lakes, and seas by 98%.
If that wasn’t enough, we firmly believe in the responsible use of water. This is serious, the traditional textile industry needs about 2,700 liters of water to produce a single shirt; to put that into perspective, 2,700 liters of water is what the average person drinks in three years. Organic cultivation reduces that amount by 91%. In addition, the factories are equipped with effluent treatment plants, which remove toxic elements from the water and allow their constant reuse.
As is logical, at Ride Me Five we don’t only care about taking care of the ground you walk on. We’ve learned that about 200,000 people die from exposure to pesticides and fertilizers each year. Due to this, our production chain doesn’t use toxic substances at all.
Finally, we make sure that people who work for us, do so under fair and safe working conditions, with dignifying wages and with no child labor.

Our supply chain is endorsed by different independent institutions. This is because Ride Me Five works to build a healthy environment and work practices and, based on them, we defend greater respect for people and for our planet:
- 100% ORGANIC COTTON -
ORGANIC 100 CONTENT STANDARD
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) certificate guarantees that our t-shirts have a 100% organic composition.
Unlike conventional cotton, organic cotton is grown without chemical insecticides, fertilizers, or pesticides. With organic cotton we avoid pouring dangerous substances into the soil or adjacent waters and, therefore, a safe environment is guaranteed for farmers and their families.
- SUSTAINABLE FROM BEGINNING TO END -
GOTS
The strict Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) means commitment. With this certificate, the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trade, and distribution are controlled, giving the customer complete peace of mind regarding the quality and origin of their purchase.
The GOTS certificate also takes care of the people who participate in the manufacturing process, guaranteeing that all products labeled under its seal have been manufactured with minimum wages that allow a dignified life, in humane conditions, with freedom and no discrimination.

FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION
It’s one of the most important certificates. The rigorous standard of the FWF protects the labor and human dignity of all those involved in the production chain. The Fair Wear Foundation seal dictates that our brand guarantees the following rights:

PETA VEGAN APPROVED
Ride Me Five understands that the protection of the environment it’s the care of its ecosystems. The PETA Approved Vegan seal is the certificate granted by the organization that defends animal rights PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to those products that have not used or harmed any animal directly or indirectly in its processing, manufacturing, or handling.
All of the clothing we offer are of plant origin and, of course, no animal tests have been carried out and will not be carried out.
- WE RECYCLE EVERYTHING WE CAN -
GLOBAL RECYCLED STANDARD
Everything we offer in our store has been produced according to the Global Recycled Standard. The GRS allows companies to verify the recycled content of their products and, at the same time, the social, environmental, and chemical practices involved in their production.
It certifies the presence and optimization of recycled material in fabrics and it tracks the path of raw materials from their origin to the final product.

OEKO – TEXT STANDARD ®
We want to make sure you know that our shirts and other clothing are completely free of toxic or potentially harmful products. In this section, we are guided by the OEKO-TEX safety standard, focused on restricting the use of chemicals and heavy metals within the textile sector, so that the clothes you wear are 100% respectful to your skin.
